Manchester United Goalkeeper Set To Leave Old Trafford

Romero still has a year left on his contract with the Old Trafford outfit

Transfer rumours involving Manchester United have a propensity for potential incomings. But that hasn't been the case this time around, as a Red Devil looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer.

As per Football Italia, United's second choice goalkeeper, Sergio Romero, is heading for an exit from the Theatre of Dreams at the end of the season, and is set for a return to Serie A.

Romero has reportedly purchased a house in Milan ahead of a move to Internazionale. The 30-year-old had arrived at United as a free agent in the summer of 2015 after completing his four-year tenure with Sampdoria.

The Argentine stopper has mainly played a backup role to David De Gea since his arrival in England, and has chiefly been part of cup competitions such as the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Inter Milan, who have put a two-year deal on the table for Manchester United goalkeeper, also want him to carry out a similar role behind their number one, Samir Handanovic, at the San Siro.

However, Nerazzurri's local rivals AC Milan are also believed to be interested in the former Sampdoria stopper, but they too, intend to bring in Romero as an understudy for their teenage goalkeeping sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Romero still has a year left on his contract with the Old Trafford outfit. He has made a total of 24 appearances in his two years at the club, 14 of which have come under Jose Mourinho this season. Nonetheless, the Portuguese won't hinder Romero's return to Serie A if the player desperately wants to leave United at the end of the campaign.
